Art, Dance and Music – National Arts & Humanities Month
On October 2, 2012 from 8:15 to 9:00am visitors to the St. Johns County Administration Building are in for an artistic feast presented by the St. Johns County Cultural Council. An opening reception of original oil paintings by accomplished artist, Ann McGlade will take place in the Rotunda Gallery before the Board of County Commissioner’s meeting. A resident of Saint Augustine, McGlade’s award-winning oil paintings have been exhibited in museums and juried shows from New York to Oregon. McGlade’s newest works focus on local ballerinas who exemplify the grace, beauty and athleticism of the human form. McGlade is also the official artist of the St. Augustine Ballet (www.saintaugustineballet.com) a local non-profit arts organization. Members from the St. Augustine Ballet will bring her paintings to life with a brief performance and perhaps a sneak peak at their upcoming annual Nutcracker. Eva Karjono, a member of the Jacksonville Youth Orchestra will play violin. Directly after the reception, the Board of County Commissioners will proclaim October as National Arts & Humanities Month and all are encouraged to attend. McGlade’s oil paintings will be displayed from October 2-December 28, 2012. To view some of McGlade’s paintings, visit www.annmcglade.com.
The St. Johns County Administration Building is open to the public from 8a.m. until 5p.m. Monday through Friday and is located at 500 San Sebastian View off of US1 North.
